Exploring the space between what we know and what we feel.

Psychotherapy for adults with a focus on trauma and EMDR.

About Me

I’m Maria Garcia, LPC, NCC, a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Georgia and a National Certified Counselor. Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, I have lived in Atlanta since 2001 and have more than ten years of professional experience in the mental health field.

My practice focuses primarily on the treatment of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Throughout my clinical career, I have worked with adults who have experienced various forms of trauma, including abuse, violence, adverse childhood experiences, and developmental trauma.

I have specialized training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting, therapeutic approaches that I incorporate based on each person’s individual needs and therapeutic process.

Services

Individual Therapy

I provide individual psychotherapy for adults addressing a range of emotional and mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, and adjustment to significant life changes or circumstances.

Treatment is tailored to each person’s individual needs and may incorporate different therapeutic approaches and techniques, including EMDR and Brainspotting, when clinically appropriate.

Individual therapy is offered exclusively via telehealth to clients located in Georgia, Florida, and Tennessee.

EMDR Intensives

EMDR intensives are extended therapy sessions designed to allow for deeper, more continuous work on traumatic experiences, distressing memories, or other concerns that cause significant emotional distress. Unlike traditional therapy sessions, this format allows for an extended period of focused therapeutic work. Intensives may last up to five hours per day, including necessary breaks throughout the session, and may be scheduled on weekends. EMDR intensives are offered exclusively in person in Marietta, Georgia and are a private-pay service that is not billed through health insurance. Before scheduling an intensive, a consultation is required to determine whether this treatment format is clinically appropriate for the individual’s needs.

Clinical Evaluations for Immigration Cases

I provide clinical evaluations in English or Spanish for individuals involved in certain immigration proceedings. The evaluation process includes a comprehensive clinical interview and preparation of a clinical report that may be submitted by your attorney as supporting documentation for your immigration case.

Evaluations are available for cases involving:

  • Extreme Hardship Waivers

  • VAWA, for survivors of domestic violence

  • U Visas, for victims of certain crimes

  • T Visas, for victims of human trafficking

  • Asylum

Once the evaluation is complete and all necessary information has been collected, the clinical report is generally prepared within 5–7 business days.

Evaluation Fee: $450

The full $450 fee must be paid before the evaluation appointment. The evaluation will be conducted once payment has been received in full.

A clinical evaluation does not constitute legal advice and does not guarantee the outcome of any immigration proceeding. To determine which immigration application or benefit may be appropriate for your circumstances, please consult with an immigration attorney.
